Some days when I wake up in the morning I feel happy, refreshed and excited for what the day will bring. Then there are some days I wake up I feel sad, drained and uninspired. I have a bad habit of worrying a lot and I always think of the worst scenario that can happen. I make myself believe that I am going to have a bad day. Throughout the day when I’m at work, I’m already in a bad mood because of my negative thoughts. I allowed my negative thoughts to control me and the whole day I feel miserable.
Your mind is a very powerful thing. When you start filling it with positive things, your life will change. I realized the reason I kept putting myself in a negative mood was because of self-doubt and lack of happiness. When you start something new, like school or a job, it can be a challenging in the beginning. You are learning so many new things and it can be very overwhelming. Everyone has a hard time in the beginning, but as long as you stay positive, you will succeed. When something is hard for me, I learned to train myself to say I can and I will. This helped me to become more confident in myself.
Staying positive in a negative situation is still a challenge for me. When I’m in an unhappy position, I allow myself to become depressed and unmotivated. They say when you are unhappy about something you have to change it, but sometimes you can’t or you have to wait until things change. I have to say, it’s not a fun place to be, but until things can change you have to stay positive. This is where I struggle the most. I read so many articles online on how to stay positive. I wanted to share with you some of the things that have helped me to stay positive in a negative situation.
Smiling has helped me to change my mood from being sad to being happy. When I started to smile more it made me feel good about myself and it made feel more energetic. I also learned that smiling can lower blood pressure, stress, and anxiety. Smiling is a great way to stay positive.

Reading positive quotes before you start your day will help you to stay motivated. I have an inspiration quotes board on my Pinterest page where I pin a lot of inspirational quotes daily. It helps me get inspired and I feel like I can conquer the day. I love to buy positive quotes pictures, like the one in this photo. I always keep this picture on my nightstand, so every time I wake up in the morning I can read it to myself. Reading inspirational quotes daily will improve your mood and help you to stay positive.
- Be Consistent with Positive Thoughts
Being consistent with positive thoughts will help your mind in the future. If you don’t keep thinking positive, your only allowing negativity to come into your life again. Always think positive when you are in a good or bad mood. I practice positive thinking every day. I think about everything I’m grateful for, like for instance, my achievements, family and my close friends. Let go of self-doubt, worrying, fear, and anger. Start predicting a positive outcome, in any bad situations. When you trained your mind to think positive every day, you will have positive results.
- Surround Yourself with Positive People
Surrounding yourself with negative people is very draining. I know you have heard the saying miserable love company. This is very true! They are people who are miserable so they want you to be miserable just like them. I’ve had people like this in my life and I had to let them go. Some people like to put other people down, gossip and complain, but never do anything to change their situation. You don’t need people like this in your life. If they are not trying to do good things, you have to leave them behind. I’ve surrounded myself with good positive people and they make me feel good about myself. I love to see people helping and encouraging other people. When you surround yourself with positive people, you will have a positive life.
- Do Things that Makes You Happy
Sometimes when we’re in a negative state, we become uninspired. We lose interest in doing the things we love to do. I had to overcome this by encouraging myself to start again. When you are in an unhappy situation, continue to do the things that bring you joy. When you do this, it will make you feel good about yourself. For example, I love writing blogs. I encouraged myself to write when I’m down. After I published my blog post, it makes me feel so happy to read people’s comments they left for me on my blog. It motivates me to continue writing. So please keep enjoying what you love to do, despite the negativity. You will feel good and it will help you to stay positive.
So here are a few things, I love to do to stay positive in negative situations. Every day is not easy, and sometimes I have to remind myself of these tips. Once you practice positivity, you will overcome the thoughts of negativity.
